Many Rieslings to Visit in May

May 3, 2017– May is Riesling Month at Silver Thread!  To celebrate our signature variety, we are offering the following special promotions at our tasting room and on-line store this month:

  • Taste the Quintet of 2015 Rieslings.  All five of our 2015 Rieslings can be tasted side-by-side in our Riesling Experience tasting flight, which features dry, medium dry and medium sweet styles. The harvest that followed the second “polar vortex” winter of 2014-15 was small, but beautifully ripe and rich.   Wine Spectator recently reviewed the 2015 Finger Lakes Rieslings, saying, the “Finger Lakes region faced a tricky growing season in 2015, but established producers continued their pattern of fielding Mother Nature’s vintage vagaries with a steady hand…Not surprisingly, Riesling, the region’s signature grape, provides the best set of wines for consumers to choose from.”  Spectator rated all of our 2015 Rieslings highly, with the Riesling STV Estate Vineyard earning 90 points!  You can read Silver Thread’s report on the 2015 harvest here.  The only thing lacking in the 2015s is quantity, so time is short to taste these lovely wines.

 

  • Riesling Four-Packs.  Our popular Riesling-Four-Packs are back!  Perfect for a wine-tasting party or to add to your cellar, they include one of each of our limited-production single-vineyard Rieslings, plus your choice of Dry or Semi-dry Riesling 2015.   Riesling packs are $82 (15% off regular price of $96) through May 31.  Purchase on-line or at the tasting room.  Our new on-line shopping cart allows you to “pickup” your order, so you can buy now and retrieve it later.   • Riesling Magnums.  The Queen of Silver Thread, Riesling STV Estate Vineyard, is available in 1.5L magnum bottles.  These large-format bottles are perfect for collecting, aging in your cellar, or celebrations.  We have three vintages available–2013, 2014, and 2015– for $60 per bottle.  You can learn more about the benefits of the 1.5L package in an article we wrote here.

 

  • Last chance for 2014 Dry and Semi-dry Riesling.  2014 is a highly age-able vintage due to its crisp acidity.  Our highly-rated 2014 Dry and Semi-dry Riesling are perfect candidates for aging, and are drinking beautifully.  Pick up a few bottles of each at our tasting room during May, after which time we will retire them to the library.
