Experiences
Our Tasting Room is located off the beaten path; a welcome respite from the well-traveled Seneca Lake wine route. It provides breathtaking views and an opportunity to contemplate wine in a quiet, natural setting. Our knowledgeable, professional staff and expressive wines ensure a memorable experience.
Hours: We will be open Fridays and Saturdays 12-5 in December through 12/21/24.
Reservations: Silver Thread is small and has limited seating, so reservations are strongly encouraged. For patrons without a reservation, we offer guided tastings at the bar or wine by-the-glass on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about our tastings are listed below. Maximum group size is 6. Other guest policies are listed at the bottom of this page.
Guest Policies
Group Size. Due to limited space, our maximum group size is six. Children and non-tasting adults may accompany tasters, however they are counted toward the maximum group size of 6 and should be mentioned in the “special requests” section of your booking. Large Vehicles. Our narrow gravel driveway and small parking lot do not allow for large vehicles such as stretch limousines, buses and RVs.
Smoking. For the health of our employees and guests, Silver Thread is a non-smoking property. This policy includes tobacco, vaping and cannabis.
Outside food and drink. Space permitting, you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the tables in our front yard. Per our liquor license, guests may not consume any alcoholic beverages except those purchased at our winery.
Electric vehicle charging. Guests are welcome to charge their EVs for free during regular operating hours. Learn more here.
We thank you in advance for respecting our policies and look forward to welcoming you.
Getting Here
From NYS Route 414, winery signs will lead you to Caywood Road. About 1/4 mile down, the paved road turns to a privately-maintained gravel road. Enjoy the expansive views of the lake and the Doyle Family’s massive Chardonnay vineyard as you approach Silver Thread. Follow the signs along the gravel road about 3/4 of a mile. Our vineyard begins at the 90-degree turn where you see a circle sign with a turtle image. Next, you will cross a rustic cattle bridge over a ravine (don’t worry–the bridge is supported by two very strong concrete pilings and several steel I-beams). The road is narrow, but there is ample room to pull off to the side if you should encounter an oncoming vehicle. Please respect our neighbors by obeying the 5 mph posted speed limit.
