Our Tasting Room is located off the beaten path; a welcome respite from the well-traveled Seneca Lake wine route. It provides breathtaking views and an opportunity to contemplate wine in a quiet, natural setting. Our knowledgeable, professional staff and expressive wines ensure a memorable experience.
Hours: We are open Saturdays in March, and Friday-Sunday in April. May through October, we’re open Thursday through Monday. November hours are Friday through Sunday, and in December, we’re open Friday and Saturday. January & February we’re open by appointment only.
Reservations: Silver Thread is small and has limited seating, so reservations are strongly encouraged. For patrons without a reservation, we offer guided tastings at the bar or wine by-the-glass on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about our tastings are listed below.
Group Size. Due to limited space, our maximum group size is six. Children and non-tasting adults may accompany tasters, however they are counted toward the maximum group size of 6 and should be mentioned in the “special requests” section of your booking. Please book on-line (see button at lower right) or call 607-582-6116 for availability.
Pets are not permitted inside the building. Leashed pets are welcome in the front yard of the winery where we have several tables with lake views. Flights and wine by the glass are served in the front yard, weather permitting.
Large Vehicles. Our narrow gravel driveway and small parking lot do not allow for large vehicles such as stretch limousines, buses and RVs.
Smoking. For the health of our employees and guests, Silver Thread is a non-smoking property.
Outside food and drink. Space permitting, you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the tables in our front yard. Per our liquor license, guests may not consume any alcoholic beverages except those purchased at our winery.
We thank you in advance for respecting our policies and look forward to welcoming you.
From NYS Route 414, winery signs will lead you to Caywood Road. About 1/4 mile down, the paved road turns to a privately-maintained gravel road. Enjoy the expansive views of the lake and the Doyle Family’s massive Chardonnay vineyard as you approach Silver Thread. Follow the signs along the gravel road about 3/4 of a mile. Our vineyard begins just after you cross a rustic cattle bridge over a ravine (don’t worry–the bridge is supported by two very strong concrete pilings and several steel I-beams). The road is narrow, but there is ample room to pull off to the side if you should encounter an oncoming vehicle. Please respect our neighbors by obeying the 5 mph posted speed limit.
