Recipe: Spiced Pear White Wine Spritz
One of the biggest surprises of our first season in the Winegarden has been the overwhelmingly positive response to our white wine spritzes.
From the fresh Strawberry-Rhubarb-Lavender wine cocktail of early summer to the Apricot-Blackberry in August to the most recent autumnal drink (Spiced Pear), we’ve had fun pairing local produce with our 2022 Good Earth White.

Apricot-Blackberry White Wine Spritz with a sprig of lavender.
In fact, the Spiced Pear is so delicious, we’ve had several people ask if we sell it bottled. That answer is no… BUT it’s not difficult to make at home so here you go, folks: the Spiced Pear White Wine Spritz!
Ingredients:
– two 750mL bottles of a fruit-forward, dry white wine*
– a quart of pears
– 1 tsp. salt
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice (any mix of ginger, nutmeg, allspice, etc. should work)
– seltzer or club soda (not flavored)
1) Pre-heat oven to 350F.
2) Peel half of the pears. Halve or quarter all of the pears. Remove all seed centers/stems.
3) Mix pears with sugar, salt, and seasoning.
4) Bake on a non-stick pan for 15 minutes.
5) Remove pan and cover the mixture with foil or a lid and let stand for 15-20 minutes.
6) Put cooked fruit and all juices into a pitcher (glass or stainless steel). Add both bottles of wine. Chill for at least 12 hours (24 is better!).
7) Strain out fruit.

Strain those pears, pal.
8) Serve over ice and topped with a splash of seltzer. Garnish with mint if you’d like. Enjoy!

Cheers!
* We suggest a dry or off-dry Riesling or Riesling blend, though ultimately it depends on your own palate.
