Planning Your Finger Lakes Trip in 2024
Happy March!
Spring cleaning at Silver Thread has a lot of branches. There’s the pruning, weeding, and tying up that happens out in the vineyard. There’s the literal, less scenic cleaning we do in the winery itself; washing the walls, organizing storage closets, and a lot of mopping floors. Then there’s the website “cleaning.”
We go through our site at least once a year to ensure all links are working. We update hours whenever needed, and upload new tech sheets for new vintages. We try to keep the blog here relatively active so folks aren’t seeing the same things at the top all the time. And this time of year, as we slowly re-open for the season, we double-check our list of where to stay and eat when you visit us here in Lodi.
Every spot listed has a connection to someone here at Silver Thread. A few of the lakeside listings in Caywood are owned and managed by a good friend of ours, Greg, who also helps us pick grapes during harvest. One of the Hector rentals is owned by a fellow local small-business owner. The restaurants are some of our favorite, regular places to visit when we ourselves are looking to dine out.
You’ll see that though the majority of the places are pretty close to Silver Thread, there are a few spots a bit farther out. Corning – a destination for folks who love glass art – is just under an hour south. Ithaca, at the base of Cayuga Lake (just east of Seneca), is a big college town. Though a lot of people visiting look to stay as close to the lake as possible, there are plenty of cute places popping up in Montour Falls (south of Watkins Glen) which also happens to be home to about a half a dozen beautiful waterfalls.
We hope to see you this season. Reservations for the entire year can be made online so don’t hesitate to book an experience way in advance! As a small winery, we fill up fast. That’s why we offer vineyard tours, library tastings, and more!
See you in 2024!
