We’re Moving… A Mile!

Lodi, NY, November 10, 2024– After 30 years at it’s off-the-beaten-path location on Caywood Rd. in Lodi, Silver Thread is moving into a building on Route 414. The winery will offer wine tasting, retail sales, and a limited food menu in what is currently Dano’s Heuriger Restaurant beginning February 2025. Although its main tasting room will be located at 9564 Rt-414, Silver Thread’s A-frame winery building on Caywood Rd. will offer private wine tastings by appointment.

“Moving into the Dano’s space is an incredible opportunity for us,” said Shannon Brock, Silver Thread co-owner and estate manager. “We’ll have greater visibility and capacity, plus we can be open year-round. We’re delighted to continue to serve some of Dano’s cuisine to pair with our wines. The building is directly up the hill from our current location, so it makes a lot of sense.”

Silver Thread Moving Announcement

Dano’s owner Karen Gilman is retiring after 34 years in the restaurant business. She and her late husband, Dano Hutnik, have operated the Viennese-style restaurant in Lodi since 2005. The final day of restaurant service will be December 1, 2024. Gilman will focus on painting and will continue to display her art in the building.

“In 2001, Silver Thread founder Richard Figiel sold his 4-acre property (originally intended to become the Silver Thread Tasting Room) to Dano and myself enabling us to build our dream restaurant, Dano’s Heuriger on Seneca,” said Gilman. “19 years later we are coming full circle, passing on the building to current Silver Thread owners Shannon and Paul Brock. I am so excited for them and the transition to the Silver Thread tasting room. The architectural design was conceived to be about enjoying the interior space in juxtaposition to the magnificent natural surroundings with a glass of wine and some wonderful food. These things will not change.”

Silver Thread’s tasting room has always been praised for its high-quality wines and knowledgeable staff. The winery will continue its emphasis on wine education in the new space. In addition, guests may order wine by-the-glass and light fare for a casual, wine bar experience. Favorites from Dano’s menu that will be available include Austrian spreads, cold salads, and charcuterie. The large restaurant space will also be used for wine classes and private event rental.
