Introducing… the delicious 2021 Reds!
Silver Thread has long been known for stunning, age-worthy Rieslings and the iconic Blackbird Red Wine. This month, we’re excited to introduce two delicious, lighter-style red wines from the 2021 vintage. Cabernet Franc and Good Earth Red are lighter and fruitier than Blackbird, but won’t disappoint fans of our classic, elegant wine-making style.
We have already written extensively about the challenging 2021 harvest. It was rainy and wet, resulting in below average alcohol and lighter color in the finished wines. However, flavors developed nicely and acids were low, which means the wines taste great. These reds are a perfect example of the delicate yet flavorful style of 2021. They were deliberately made to be enjoyable when young, and don’t require cellaring.
Cabernet Franc 2021: “The al fresco friend”
Perfect for pairing with anything you’d serve outside, our Cabernet Franc has a bright bouquet of cherries, strawberries and dried herbs. It’s a light-bodied red, with a soft and smooth texture and very light tannins. Pair with grilled salmon, grilled or wood-fired pizza, or a charcuterie & cheese board.
Good Earth Red 2021: “All-American Cookout Champ”
A blend of cool-climate red varieties (Lemberger, Regent, Merlot and Cabernet Franc), Good Earth Red is bursting with fruity and spicy aromas. It is medium bodied with a lingering finish of cherries, black pepper and smoke. Pair this with your favorite cookout foods like burgers, grilled Portobellos or bratwurst.
These delightful new-release red wines are available at our tasting room, on-line and are included in June’s VIP Club shipment.
