Discover Dry Rose in April
March 31, 2016–Once again, pink wine aficionados are a-twitter about Finger Lakes Dry Rose! Last Monday, FLX dry rose producers gathered for a tasting of the freshly-bottled 2015 rose wines. Every year, they get better and better! April is the time to plan your rose-centric visit to the region before these limited-production wines are sold out for another year.
30 wineries have joined the Discover Dry Rosé campaign this year (up from 14 in the inaugural 2013 year of this collaboration). The promotion runs throughout April at winery tasting rooms. The goal of the campaign is to educate consumers about Finger Lakes Dry Rosés and increase demand and awareness about the wine style. Consumers are invited to visit the 30 Dry Rosé-producing wineries and will experience special promotions at each. Or follow the campaign on facebook to see what other rose-lovers and producers are up to.
At Silver Thread, each tasting room visitor will be welcomed with a complimentary tasting of our Dry Rosé of Pinot Noir 2015 paired with a taste of Muranda Cheese (produced right here in Seneca County). Or if you can’t make it out this month, visit our on-line store to order some Dry Rosé before its sold out!
We produced 100 cases of this year’s Dry Rosé of Pinot Noir from 100% estate grown fruit. Unfortunately, production was down 20% from 2014 due to the cold winter of 2014-2015. The wine has a lovely aroma of ruby grapefruit, raspberry and stones. We allocated 42 cases to our wholesaler for store and restaurant sales, and all of it has already been spoken for. Of the 56 cases remaining for us to sell at the tasting room, 40% is already sold. Don’t wait if you want to get some of this delicious seasonal favorite!
