April is Time to Discover Dry Rose
April 1, 2015– Two years ago when a small group of Finger Lakes wineries joined together to promote our Dry Rosé wines, they were one of the region’s best kept secrets. Now, word has spread and throngs of visitors plan trips to the region to taste and stock up before these seasonal wines are sold out!
28 wineries have joined the Discover Dry Rosé campaign this year (up from 21 last year and 14 the first year). The promotion runs throughout April at winery tasting rooms. The goal of the campaign is to educate consumers about Finger Lakes Dry Rosés and increase demand and awareness about the wine style. Consumers are invited to visit the 28 Dry Rosé-producing wineries and will experience special promotions at each.
At Silver Thread, each tasting room visitor will be welcomed with a complimentary tasting of our Dry Rosé of Pinot Noir 2014 paired with a taste of Muranda Cheese (produced right here in Seneca County). Or if you can’t make it out this month, visit our on-line store to order some Dry Rosé before its sold out!
We produced 120 cases of this year’s Dry Rosé of Pinot Noir from 100% estate grown fruit. It has a lovely aroma of ruby grapefruit, raspberry and stones. At last week’s trade tasting of Finger Lakes rose wines, several key buyers declared it their favorite of the 2014 Finger Lakes rose crop. We allocated 50 cases to our wholesaler for store and restaurant sales, and all of it has already been spoken for. Of the 70 cases remaining for us to sell at the tasting room, 20% is already gone. While we try to make enough dry rose to keep in stock through the summer, it appears that the 2014 will be going quickly. Don’t wait if you want to get some of this delicious seasonal favorite!
