Gewurztraminer is Pink
September 19, 2011–Gewurztraminer is a German name for an Italian grape that is most widely planted in France. It’s also a purple grape that yields pink juice that turns into white wine. No wonder Gewurztraminer is so misunderstood!
These photos show 1.) our beautifully ripe Gewurztraminer grapes hanging on the vine, 2.) the grapes after they were machine-picked (it looked like someone picked each berry by hand with their fingers—hooray for modern machinery!) and 3.) the pink juice coming off of the press. Gewurztraminer makes one of the most delicious grape juices for drinking—just ask our kids!
