IMG_50181-e1367545809912Duane came to Silver Thread after spending 30 years in Wayne Wilcox’s lab at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY.  A lifelong resident of the Finger Lakes, he currently lives in Waterloo with his wife Joanne and sons Andy and Cody.  Raised on a dairy farm and a 1972 graduate of Cornell University, Duane has always been interested in biology.  “Whether its the yeast that makes the wine or the fungus that can destroy the fruit, the interplay of the biological systems involved in growing grapes and making wine fascinates me.”  If he’s not turning over grape leaves looking for bugs or fungi, Duane enjoys fishing on the many Finger Lakes.  “I can not think of a better place to live than in the Finger Lakes.”
