DESCRIPTION:Our most popular virtual program will return for the fourth installment in January 2023.  Whether you participated in a previous course or are joining for the first time, Riesling Expert IV will expand your horizons and enhance your knowledge of the Finger Lakes’ signature grape. This virtual tasting series is suitable for beginners and serious enthusiasts. Full-color notes for each session are included with the wine 6-pack.\n\nClasses will take place via Zoom Webinar, and participants must register in advance to access the sessions. Anyone completing the program will earn a “Silver Thread Riesling Expert” award.  The award will be distinct from those issued in previous courses.\n\nSession 1: What is Riesling? – January 20, 2023, 6-7:30pm\n\nSession 2: Winemaking Impacts on Riesling  – January 27, 2023, 6-7:30pm\n\nSession 3: Longevity in Riesling – February 10, 2023, 6-7:30pm\n\n\nEach week will feature two wines. Do I need to purchase the exact wines you are tasting in the class? No, but you will get more out of the class if you have the same wines as the instructors and other participants. If you have a collection of our wines, we can suggest substitutions of the class wines based on what you already own.\n2.) Why isn’t the class on Facebook like in past years? Facebook recently changed its policies so that you have to be a member of the site to access videos and other content. In order to make the class as accessible as possible, we are moving to Zoom Webinar. Zoom Webinars are different from Zoom Meetings… participants don’t have their cameras on, but they can still participate via chat and other means during the class.\n3.) Can I share the wine pack with other participants? Yes! People often purchase a 6-pack of wines to share with a group of people who take the class together. However, each person in the group should register for the class separately so that we have a list of everyone’s names for issuing the awards.\n\n4.) Is there a fee for the class? No. The classes are included with the purchase of the Riesling Expert wine 6-pack. Silver Thread Club Members who have enough wines to participate without purchasing the 6-pack are also invited to join the class. Registration is required (name, email and mailing address) for purposes of sending the link to the class and mailing your award.\n5.) Is there homework? In order to receive the award, participants must watch all three class sessions. We will take attendance during live classes and there will be opportunities to participate to show that you are learning. If you can’t make the live classes and watch the recordings, simply send us an email to let us know so we can count your participation.\n \n
